Rising Phoenix Thoroughbred Rescue is an equine rescue devoted to saving and transforming the lives of Thoroughbreds who once raced – or were trained to race. Many of our horses come from kill pens and at-risk environments across Texas, Oklahoma, and California, where we work with dedicated agents to intervene before it’s too late, and they are shipped to either Canada or Mexico for slaughter.
Our mission goes beyond rescue. Once these horses arrive, they begin a journey of rehabilitation and renewal – one that mirrors the path of the people we serve. Through our equine-assisted programs, individuals recovering from addiction or struggling with mental health challenges learn to connect, communicate, and rebuild trust through the power of partnership with a horse.
At the heart of our work is the belief that healing happens in both directions. The horses find safety and purpose; the people find strength and hope. Together, they remind us that recovery – and redemption – are always possible.
